Reporting Overview

SentryOne offers an expansive list of reporting options, and reports are generated using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technology. The SentryOne client includes the Reporting Services Report Viewer that allows the SentryOne reports to be viewed from within the SentryOne client. All reports are accessed from the Reports menu.

SentryOne Report Viewer

SentryOne Reports can be deployed to the Reporting Services 2005 and above server for distribution. Report Deployment Settings is accessed from the Reports menu. For more information about these settings and deploying SentryOne Reports, see the Reports topic.

Report Parameters

Once a report is selected, depending on the type of report, the user specifies parameters, including a date and time range for the report. Options are available to save these parameters for later use. To save a set of parameters, select Save on the Report Parameters dialog screen. To load a saved set of parameters, choose a parameter set from the Load Saved Parameters drop-down list. For certain reports, such as the SQL Server Performance report, an option is available to select multiple sets of parameter values. Select Add to Parameter List to add a parameter set to the selected report.

When you choose to deploy your reports, you're given the ability to decide where on your reporting server you'd like to store these reports. Select the desired folder, and then select OK. Create new folders by right-clicking on an existing folder and selecting New Folder.

Note:  Windows Authentication must be enabled to immediately run reports from the web interface.

Report Subscriptions

To create a subscription for any of the SentryOne reports, you'll need to adjust the instance properties of the SQL Data Source SQLDS. In your cloud.sentryone.com account, navigate to the Server Details for the repository you wish to configure reports for, and then select Reports from the Navigator pane. Select the email icon in the upper right-hand corner next to the report you wish to subscribe to, set parameters, as well as where to send the report, and then select Save.
